How Many Psalms are Written in the Bible?
The Book of Psalms is divided into five sections or divisions, known as “books” or “rolls.” Each of these sections is marked by a concluding Psalm or doxology. The five sections are:

While the exact reason for the division into five sections is unknown, it is possible that it was done to reflect the structure of the five books of Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), or to reflect the structure of ancient Jewish liturgy, which was based on five major festivals.
